- Cabins: my cabin is a tad smaller than my one on the Dream. There is also no space under the bed for suitcases, but a whole area at the foot of my bed to shove my new duffel bags.
- Internet....ugh...
- Crew mess...better!
- I can walk from my room (all the way forward) to the mess in the aft in 2 minutes rather than 7...
- Crew bar...:(
- None of my Dream friends...I definitely miss everyone from the Dream who were all very special individuals...
- I actually have a life here on the Magic! Yay!

The Magic
So here are some differences I have noticed after 5 weeks on board the beautiful Disney Magic:
Salut mes amis! Sorry my Italian isn't good enough, had to switch to French.
I hope you are all doing well! Sorry you haven't heard much from me,
the satellite system on the ship is very poor and there are days that
we cannot access the internet or make phone calls out. It has been
difficult. Makes me feel safe too considering the ship uses satellite
systems for safety...hmm I'll try not to think of that.
I am currently sitting in an internet cafe in Civitavecchia, Italy.
This is the port closest to Rome (90 minutes away). I am not going to
Rome today because I had to do a crew safety drill today and so I
couldn't go on the early buses. This is the first port that I haven't
been on an excursion though. It has been amazing. Since May 22nd I
have been in Madeira, Portugal as well as Cadiz & Jerez de la Frontera
& Barcelona, Spain, as well as Gibraltar (all on the crossing), and I
have visited Valetta & Mdina in Malta (gorgeous island), Palermo,
Selinunte & Marinella, Sicily and Naples & Herculaneum in Italy.
Whewf. It is actually a bit overwhelming at times, I don't even know
where I am most days and I go through it in a daze. Luckily I will be
visiting these ports more than once. I know this is not the way I like
to travel....not at all, but these people absolutely love it. Tomorrow
is a day at sea, and then we are in La Spezia, Italy (Florence-Pisa),
followed by Ajaccio, Corsica and then my love of all loves,
Villefranche, France before heading back to our home port of
Barcelona. Julie, I am going to the Fragonard perfumerie, I hope you
are being a nice sister and not stealing my clothes because if you are
not you may not get a present.....just kidding!
The job here is absolutely incredible, and I am so happy and lucky to
have the opportunity I have here. I am feeling much more relaxed and
happy on this cruise because I am getting much bigger chunks of time
off, and I am getting off the ship for excursions. I have my days
where I am not happy (I miss my good friends from the other ship) but
overall, the Magic is wonderful. It only takes me 2 minutes to get
anywhere instead of 7 on the Dream...which allows me time to actually
eat breakfast in the morning without waking up at an obscene time!
Haha.
We are getting a new team member soon, and his name is Damien from
France and he was on the Dream with me but as a Youth Counselor. He
will be replacing the infamous individual, who resigned (for those of you
who have not heard that story, I can share when I am home in August).
Believe me, that was a very happy night! I am excited and I feel that
the team will be great even though he is brand new and the Med is a
tough itinerary. We are constantly harassed by complaints if something
goes wrong, and boy let me tell you Disney Freaks are meeeaaaan. But
it is an extremely good learning experience and I getting a tougher
skin. Wahoo!
I miss you all.
I am off to wander around the streets of Civitavecchia and maybe eat a
gelato. Okay, not maybe. I totally am.
Love you all,
Amanda
